Drooling exercises



Dear , parents


these are some exercises which are so important to control drooling  :

1. Make a circular movement around the face (on the jaw, on the cheeks and around the mouth)

3. Massage the chin from down to up


4. Massage the neck by pressing slowly on the larynx from up to down


5. Make a circular movement with the tongue around the lips


6. Lick the upper and lower teeth with the tongue


7. Reach the nose with the tongue


8. Spread and pucker the lips


9. Hold a paper between the lips


10. Using a tongue depressor inside the mouth an both sides of the tongue


11. Massage the cheeks with ice from outside to inside (the result from using the ice it becomes after 30 minutes)


12. Brushing around the lips and on the lips from outside to inside (it's better to do it half an hour before a meal)


13. Using cotton wool bud on the lips (to stimulate the muscles)


14. Blowing exercise (starts this exercise gradually, first blow from a short distance and then make it further and further) such as blowing cotton balls, small coloured papers and bubbles.


15. Blowing and sucking from a straw.


16. Closing the mouth and puffing out the cheeks.


17. Drinking juice from a straw of different thickness


18. Apply jam, honey or lemon inside the mouth (on the tongue, palate and cheeks), this encourage the student to swallow.


19. Put powder milk between the lower lips and the lower teeth, when it becomes liquid the student will lick it and swallow.


20. Using different kinds of straws start with:


A. short wide one.


B. long wide one.


C. short narrow one.


D. long narrow one.


- Straws help the student to use lip control and place his tongue in the prime position.


22. Put honey on the upper lip and tell the student to lick it by the lower lip.


* Regularly remind the student to correct his sitting, closing his mouth and swallow.
